Tell us exactly – certainly our listeners – why does it appear that some folks, certainly in the Democratic Party and in the news media – seem to be afraid of you?

I have always been a firm believer in participation so there were no cuts. We practiced three times a week but if a student had an academic conflict, academics took priority.

Being a full time coach doesn’t mean that we practice more than other teams. In fact we have strict regulations about the length of our practices and playing season. The academic schedule here means that I rarely have a full team at any one practice!
