Joey Adams (1911-1999) was an American comedian and author, best known for his work in the Borscht Belt of the Catskills. He was one of the most popular comedians of the 1940s and 1950s, and was a frequent headliner at the Copacabana. He wrote more than 12 books, including his autobiography, "From Gags to Riches," which was published in 1953. Adams was also a frequent guest on television talk shows, including The Tonight Show and The Ed Sullivan Show. Adams was a longtime president of the Friars Club, an exclusive New York City club for entertainers, and was posthumously inducted into the National Comedy Hall of Fame in 2002.
