I’ve done an awful lot of stuff that’s a monument to public patience.

Meaning of the quote

Tyrone Power, the famous American actor, is saying that he has done many things in his career that have tested the public's ability to be patient and tolerate his work. In other words, he has produced a lot of content or performances that may not have been his best, but the public has still supported him and waited for him to improve or do better. This quote suggests that Power acknowledges he has not always been perfect in his work, but the public has been very understanding and forgiving of his mistakes or less-than-stellar efforts.
